Emergency Contraception may help you to avoid pregnancy if you have had unprotected sex or your protection method has failed. Although emergency contraception is effective, it is not as reliable as regular planned contraception. Therefore, it should only be used in an emergency.
The EHC pill becomes less effective as time passes and so should be taken as soon as possible after intercourse. The pill is approximately 95% effective if taken within 24hours, 85% effective if taken between 25-48 hours and if taken between 49-72 hours it is 58% effective.
The EHC pill is available at this pharmacy and may be free of charge under our local EHC scheme. Simply fill in the form to book an appointment with our pharmacist. Please call the pharmacy directly if you require an immediate consultation.
